What is All-On-4?

Full Arch Implants

All-on-4 implant-supported bridges replace a full set of upper or lower teeth, providing you with a securely restored smile that looks and feels just like having natural teeth. Also known as full arch implants, this procedure provides a stable solution for replacing missing teeth that can last a lifetime.

All-On-4 Benefits

Very often, denture wearers complain that their dentures become loose in their mouth, limiting their ability to eat or speak comfortably. In contrast, All-on-4 implant-supported bridges are completely anchored using dental implants, so they will not shift or come loose. Because the implants are placed directly into the jaw, chewing forces are transmitted directly to the bone, which helps to prevent bone resorption and eliminate the sore gums common to denture-wearing patients.

Unlike traditional dentures, All-on-4 implant-supported bridges do not cover the roof of your mouth. This allows our patients to taste their food better than if they had a traditional denture. Overall, patients find this option to be more stable, comfortable, and natural-looking than traditional dentures.

A Secure Smile For Years to Come

All-On-4 Process

The first step in the All-on-4 process is the placement of four implants in the jaw bone. The dental implants themselves—similar in appearance to screws—are surgically inserted into your jawbone in order to securely anchor your prosthesis. You’ll be given sedation in order to keep you comfortable throughout this procedure. Dr. Ward is certified to administer in-office IV sedation, which means you will not need to pay a separate fee for anesthesia.

Once the implants have been placed, your periodontist will create a new set of teeth to anchor to the implants. This will allow you to have stable, beautiful teeth the very same day of the surgery. Patients are often surprised by how little pain or discomfort they have after this procedure.

This first set of teeth are temporary, and are later replaced with a second, stronger set of teeth once the implants have completely bonded with the jaw bone. The initial prosthetic serves as a trial period, so you can find out what you like and what you don't like. Based on your experience and feedback, we can make any changes to your final restoration before we fabricate it.

While the implants are healing, you''ll return to the office for several try-in appointments before receiving your permanent teeth. Most patients receive their permanent set about 8 months after their initial surgery. All-on-4 is a transformation that can last a lifetime, so we take the time and extra steps to ensure you fall in love with your smile.

All-On-4 Maintenance

Maintaining your All-on-4 implants comes down to practicing proper oral hygiene and care. Be sure to brush twice a day with soft-bristled toothbrush and a little bit of mouthwash, no toothpaste required. In addition, we recommend using a water flosser and an antibacterial mouthwash daily. In the first few days following your procedure, you should also follow our aftercare instructions closely, which include eating soft foods for 1-2 days and taking over-the-counter pain medication to reduce any swelling or discomfort. You will return to our office once a year to have your appliances removed and cleaned professionally. This will help prolong the lifespan of your appliances and support your continued oral health.
